The Bombastic 1926 Radio Spectacle LIVE!

Vashon Island radio host and local legend Jeff Hoyt embodies Vashon’s 1926 newspaper editor P. Monroe Smock in a re-creation of his iconic radio address aimed at luring new residents to Vashon. Accompanied by historic images rendered by Smock’s rosy oratory, Hoyt illuminates the era with help from island historians. Islanders Kat Eggleston, Steffon Moody, Chris Ballew, the Filson Sisters and more perform music from the original program and more recent odes to Vashon.

The scenic design utilized nine historic reclaimed windows on which to project hundreds of images over the course of the evening. By mapping each window as a surface, up to nine images could be displayed at once, allowing the audience to spend more time with the images since a new image often appeared every 1-10 seconds.
