Using the form of an oversized coffin, juxtaposed with the tapered chimney of a Nazi crematorium, these shapes were reappropriated into the traditional medium of Jewish coffin making: pine wood.

With only a short speech to induct you into the room, each viewer could contemplate the piece from anywhere they chose, but were encouraged to do so from inside the sculpture itself.

A stereo sound piece played inside the sculpture, best heard while lying on your back inside, was coupled with a deep modulating drone played through a subwoofer hidden behind a curtain. This hour long loop covered the transitions between repeats in the four minute inside loop, while creating a distinct hug of sound that both unsettled and nestled you into the space.
